Message summary: ...flash flood watch in effect through tonight for much of south texas...
.plentiful tropical moisture due to a mid level and surface trough over the area will produce areas of heavy rainfall. Persistent heavy rainfall has resulted in significant flooding across the region. Additional rainfall today and tonight, along with the heavy rainfall obtained before sunrise this morning, will likely produce additional flooding. Many areas have received over 5 inches of rainfall since sunday, and any additional rainfall will only fall into already swollen or near swollen rivers and creeks as soils are saturated. Depending on how long the tropical moisture lingers over the area, the flash flood watch may need to be extended for portions of the south texas on thursday, or extended farther west later today or tonight.

* additional amounts of 1 to 3 inches can be expected across the coastal bend and victoria crossroads area from 6 am wednesday through 6 am thursday morning. Some areas may see 1 to 3 inch amounts before sunrise today. As with nearly all flash flood events, locally higher amounts can be expected.
